About The Project

The previous version of this website was running a Joomla 2.5 CMS and vulnerable to hackers, furthermore it wasn’t responsive. Our design used the WooCommerce package to list and sell the product line.  We used the Stripe payment gateway as this allows customers to pay with Google Pay, Apple Pay and credit cards directly on the website improving the UX.

The subsequent website is performing much better than the previous one, with higher conversion rates. This has been attributed to the responsive behaviour of the website which has more than 50% of visitors using a mobile device to visit the website.

Client Review

From the business owner

Wingnut Websites were an excellent find. I was looking for a small local company that I could work with to redevelop my existing, but rather tired e-commerce website. That is exactly what I got. They were great to work with from start to finish with a rapid understanding of the needs of our business. We have finished up with a very good looking site. It is easy to use to find information about our products and then encourages people to go ahead and make a purchase. It has to be said that they are very competitively priced as well! Thanks guys

What you need to know

If you already have a logo and the content (words and pictures) to go on your new eCommerce website, it will take approximately two weeks to build. A new logo will take about a week if starting from scratch and would need to be done first, as this provides the colours that will be used on your website.  We often find that writing the words to go on an eCommerce website often take longer than expected but we would provide guidance on this.

Technically speaking you don’t need a logo for an eCommerce website.  That said, a professionally designed logo looks fab on a website and can really help you look credible.  We can help create you a new look with our logo design service.

We’ll provide full instructions on how to edit the words and photos on your eCommerce website as part of the build costs.  For major changes, we can provide a very competitive quote.

With over half of all internet browsing and searches done with a mobile phone or tablet, it is vital your eCommerce website works on these devices.  A properly designed eCommerce website should do just that and change its appearance depending on the screen size.  All of our eCommerce websites work on all devices.

Websites are quoted on a basis of how much work needs doing.  A very basic eCommerce website would start at £999. We know we are not the cheapest but strongly believe we provide a solid product, backed up by excellent customer service (see our reviews).

As a full service eCommerce website design company we provide a comprehensive range of hosting solutions for eCommerce business websites.  As well as hosting we can also look after email accounts for your eCommerce business.

Photos are key to making your eCommerce website look good. Visitors are more likely to contact you if you have good quality photos. Investing in a photographer will pay dividends in the long run, as well as providing you with photos for any printed material or social media posts.

To get found, your eCommerce website will most likely need to be on the first page of Google or Bing.  This will require your website to have some search engine optimisation carried out on it.  All of our eCommerce websites have the on-page SEO done while being built.  You may need off-page SEO after the website goes live to get the best result.  We can help with that too.

Absolutely, reviews are invaluable for an eCommerce website. They build trust by providing social proof, reassuring potential customers about the quality of your products. Positive reviews can also boost SEO by adding fresh, user-generated content, which helps improve search engine rankings. In a competitive market, showcasing authentic feedback can set your site apart, attract more visitors, and ultimately lead to higher conversions.
